Penumbra: Overture is a first-person survival horror game developed by Frictional Games and released on PC in 2007. Penumbra is the infancy of a paradigm that is refined in later titles published by Frictional Games, and its immaturity is going to be difficult for many people to overlook.
Penumbra Requiem is the third installment of the Penumbra series, developed by Frictional Games and released on PC in 2008. It's an add-on for Black Plague but departs significantly from the previous two installments by focusing exclusively on solving puzzles.

A Machine For Pigs is the follow-up Amnesia title to The Dark Descent and it was developed by The Chinese Room and released on PC in 2013. While it shares the Amnesia title it is a considerably different game from The Dark Descent in many respects.

It is the second chapter in the Penumbra series and imports much of the same thematic and mechanical features as Overture, with some notable exceptions--including the removal of combat.
It’s been 10 years since the release of The Dark Descent and countless games have mimicked the mechanics and tone of that game. Despite this, few have come close to achieving the gameplay balance and producing the horror within The Dark Descent.
